Mapping the Path to Animal Freedom

We are collaborating with the movement to develop Strategy Roadmaps for a series of Grand Objectives, aiming to identify one with strong potential and winnable strategy. Each Grand Objective is evaluated for its transformative impact, the feasibility of its Strategic Milestones, and ability to mobilise organisations and people behind it. Aligned with our Theory of Power and Theories of Change, the Grand Objectives accommodate both welfarist and abolitionist approaches. They are also interconnected, e.g. achieving ‘Fundamental Rights’ for cats and dogs can be a step toward securing ‘Fundamental Rights’ for all animals. They can all align with parallel efforts in food transition and vegan transformation

Our project’s work for 2025 involves:

  1. Completing skeleton, Strategy Roadmaps for each of the Grand Objectives.
  • Gain Fundamental Rights for Animals
  • Ban Factory Farming
  • Abolish Property Status for Animals
  • Ban Institutionalised Cruelty in Major Sectors
  • Gain Political Representation of Animals
  • Gain Fundamental Rights for Dogs & Cats
  • Establish Personhood Status for Animals
  • Gain Citizenship for Animals
  • Establish the Right to Rescue

2. Integrating the most salient movement feedback into each Strategy Roadmap.

3. Assessing the desirability and feasibility of each Strategy Roadmap.

4. Selecting, in consultation with the UK movement, one Grand Objective and Strategy Roadmap to pursue.

5. Integrating further feedback and detail into the chosen Strategy Roadmap.

6. Beginning to plan with the UK movement how to implement the ideas towards a first Strategic Milestone.
